Live Bidding at Gildings Auctions

Bid live through gildings.co.uk

Live online bidding continues to be one of the most popular ways to bid if you are unable to attend the auction in person. We’ve made it even easier for you to bid live, wherever you may be in the world, via offering live bidding direct from our website. Want to give it a try? Follow these simple steps to experience it for yourself:

Step 1 – Register and Sign-in

  • Register an account through our website if you haven’t already done so – Register here

  • If registering for the first time you will need to verify your account by clicking the link on the email that will be automatically sent to you.

  • To bid live you will need to associate a bank card with your account. This is for identification purposes and does not have to be the card that you may end up paying any invoices with.

  • If you experience any difficulties with the process our Team will be happy to help on 01858 410414

  • On the day of the auction make sure you are Signed-in to your account when returning to gildings.co.uk

Step 2 – Sale day/ Bidding live

Approximately half an hour prior to the auction starting, a ‘Bid Live’ button will appear on the Upcoming Auctions listing on the homepage and sub-page

  • Click 'Bid Live'
  • Read and accept the Terms and Conditions
  • On the auction catalogue screen click to view any lot in detail (it doesn't have to be the lot you wish to bid on)
  • On the lot detail page, there will be an additional button to 'Bid Live' (underneath the lot estimate)
  • A pop-up window will launch with the console for following the auction. Toggle the audio on/off to hear the action, or watch the bidding unfold on the visual display

Step 3 – Bid

Familiarise yourself with the display by watching for a few lots in advance. Remember, hammer prices will incur the buyer’s premium of 28.8% (including VAT). Bidding live via a gildings.co.uk account does not incur any additional surcharge.

  • Wait until your lot is being offered
  • The increments are displayed so you will know what the next bid will be
  • If you wish to bid the ‘Asking Amount’ click the Bid button
  • If your bid is accepted, the bid button will turn green and you will see the message 'you are in the lead'
  • If you are outbid, the blue bid button will reappear and you must decide if you are prepared to bid the next increment up
  • If you win your lot, you will receive an invoice from us as soon as the auction has ended

Successful online bidding is helped through bidding early and without hesitation when the bidding is slowing and seemingly coming to its conclusion.
