Our flagship Fine Art & Antiques sales are always a highlight in the auction calendar as they showcase the very best of what we’ve seen come into the saleroom in recent months.
The auction on Tuesday, 17th February is no exception, with the saleroom all set up to show off over 250 lots of stunning antiques and artworks from Antiquity through to the 21st century.
Join us to discover ancient Chinese sculpture, avant-garde Aesthetic movement chairs, rare Whitefriars glassware, and much more.

Furniture masterpieces from Dresser to Eames
Leading the sale is a pair of salon chairs from Bushloe House in Wigston, Leicestershire. Designed by the pioneering industrial design radical Christopher Dresser, whose work is displayed in prestigious collections including the V&A, this is a rare and remarkable opportunity for collectors. Connoisseurs of modern furniture also have the unmissable chance to acquire another icon of design in the form of a Charles & Ray Eames lounge chair and matching ottoman from 1975.

Collectable glassware and Art Deco delights
The auction offers wonderful opportunities for those looking to add an eye-catching ornament to their space. From elegant Art Deco female figurines by the Austrian sculptor Josef Lorenzl, to striking and highly covetable Geoffrey Baxter for Whitefriars glass, there is plenty to delight collectors of 20th century objects.

Art from Antiquity to Modernity
As you’d expect, the auction includes a great variety of art across many eras and styles. Those looking to make a modern British style statement have plenty to choose from including ‘Sedan no.2’, an oil painting by Adrian Heath, as well as several paintings by William Gear. Those whose tastes lean to the more traditional are spoiled for choice with highlights including ‘Terrier Confronting a Cat and her Kittens’ by the renowned animal painter, Walter Hunt.
Extraordinary collectables for every enthusiast
With over 250 fascinating lots, the sale is brimming with sought-after pieces. Admirers of Venetian design can go through the looking glass with a pair of maiolica and etched glass mirrors and there is ample opportunity to acquire objects of Antiquity including a monumental Thai bronze and lacquered figure of Shakyamuni Buddha. Add to that a rare and highly detailed anatomical model of a horse’s foot and some fine wines, spirits and whisky, including a very special Macallan 1965 25-Year-Old Anniversary Malt, and there really is something for everyone!
