How to Bid at Gildings

There are four ways to bid in any of our auctions. Expand each method below for further details to determine which will be best for you.

If you’re able to attend the auction, registration is easy! After creating a Client Account at Registration/ Reception, you will receive your paddle number for that auction. If successful with your bidding, your paddle number will be recorded by the Auctioneer. If it is your first time bidding with us you will be asked for proof of photographic ID with address (e.g. Driving Licence) to set up your Client Account.

Find Us

Not able to join us? Simply submit your maximum bid for a particular item, via email, online bid form, telephone, or in person. The Auctioneer will then bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid, obtaining the lot for you at the lowest possible price allowing for other bidding and any reserves.

We do ask for absentee bids to be submitted at least one hour before the auction starts. If more than one bid is received for any one lot at the same price, the first bid received shall be the winning bid.

Register your interest for a lot in advance of the sale and request a telephone line. One of our team will then call you live from the saleroom and execute your bidding as if you were there in person. We offer this on lots valued at £200 or above, unless you are willing to commence the bidding at £200, regardless of estimate.

There are two ways to bid live in our all auctions. You can bid live through your gildings.co.uk account, so long as a valid debit card has been registered. On the day of the auction, there will be a 'Bid Live' button on the online catalogue for you to click through to the Live Bidding portal. There is no surcharge for this service. If you are a pre-exisiting Saleroom.com client, registering through gildings.co.uk will sync with your Saleroom.com account, and you will avoid the additional surcharge applied if bidding via the-saleroom.com.

Alternatively, you can bid via www.the-saleroom.com, which requires pre-registration through their own site. Please note, an additional 5.94% fee is added to the final hammer price for bidding through the-saleroom.com
