As part of our ongoing review and directives from the UK Government for auction houses operating under COVID restrictions, the following services offered by Gildings shall be affected. 

Our Premises & Auctions

From 12th April, we are able to re-open our premises whilst observing social distancing and COVID-secure measures. For the safety of our staff and client, we shall be limiting the access until regulations ease further.

All auctions shall be conducted as Online Only events, although all auctions can be viewed by appointment. We continue to offer condition reports and additional images or videos for lots entered in any forthcoming auction.

If you are visiting us, do remember to bring and wear a face covering, observe distancing guidelines, and regularly wash/ sanitize your hands.

Collections

The collection of Lots will still be conducted via a "Click-and-Collect" appointment system. This is via timed appointments which clients can self-book via our Appointments feature on the Gildings website, or by calling the office on 01858 410414.

All invoices will need to be settled prior to arrival. Invoices can be settled via the Gildings website, bank transfer, over the telephone, or via the saleroom.com's payment link (for Saleroom.com clients only).

We shall continue to hand items to those collecting outside as much as possible and to reduce the number of people in the building. On arrival at the site, please call the office to register your arrival and your lots will be brought to you in the loading bay area (or as directed). There will be no packaging available for common use so please ensure you have your own packing material.

In-house Valuations

In-house valuations have resumed in our spacious and distanced Valuations area. For items that need a physical inspection for accurate guidance, such as jewellery, silver, and watches, you can book an appointment to see one of our Specialists. For other items, we are encouraging clients to submit images via our website for an initial appraisal. If suitable for a future auction, we can arrange a time to drop the items off with us, or for further assessment in person. Once we have inspected the items in person, we will confirm auction estimates and reserves.

Off-site Valuations

We are able to visit properties following guidelines and protocols for tradespeople and surveyors visiting homes under COVID restrictions. In arranging an appointment for a visit by one of our valuers, you will be sent an outline of the procedures and protocols that we shall employ, and ask you to complete a COVID response form.  If any member of the household is displaying symptoms, or have been told to isolate, please inform us immediately and we shall re-arrange the appointment for a later date.

Transport Collection Service

As with Off-Site Valuations, our transport team are able to visit properties following guidelines and protocols for tradespeople and removal firms visiting homes throughout the COVID pandemic. Having received the valuation documents and arranged a day and time for our team to be with you, you shall be sent an outline of the procedures and protocols that we shall employ, and what we expect you to prepare for at the property. If you have a pre-existing appointment arranged but wish to postpone to a later date, please do contact us. Equally, if any member of the household is displaying symptoms, or have been told to isolate, please inform us immediately and we shall re-arrange the appointment for a later date.
